The Carbon Budget

This animation was created in partnership with Fat Panda (formerly Fifth Planet Productions) for the Grantham Institute, to raise awareness and educate viewers on the concept of our planet's increasingly limited Carbon Budget. The illustrative style for this project was intended to convey the topic in a bright, colourful and engaging way while ensuring the necessary versatility to get across a more serious subject matter... a wide range of colours compose a cohesive palette overall, ranging from dull greys and browns through a vivid palette towards the end of the animation when discussing a more positive outlook to the future.

A central concept of the Carbon Budget 'tank' was important to our client, giving the animation a reference point throughout to visually illustrate how we are pushing the limits of our CO2 allowance. The animation applies a consistent style of fluid, eased motion design from start to finish, making the movement in each scene as well as the transitions between each section appear smooth and well-paced.
