In mid-2020 the University of Huddersfield careers team approached us to help them produce a booklet for distribution across campus, detailing the employment opportunities available to students in surrounding cities such as Leeds, York and Manchester.
Regional Jobs Guide
Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic at the time, the booklet was an essential part of the careers team reaching out to students with guidance from a distance, where usually they'd offer face-to-face lectures and one-to-one meetings as tuition on a more personal level. This being the case the careers team wanted the publication to be striking and unique, standing out from the usual university communications to captivate the reader.
Early on in the project we established an impactful postmodern style, utilising contrasting fonts and neon colours layered atop cutout photography of iconic landmarks from each region. Given the booklet was intended primarily for digital distribution we took advantage of the full RGB spectrum and employed vivid greens, yellows and blues that would otherwise be difficult to reproduce in print. While the overall design may appear a little chaotic at first, there is in fact a clear hierarchy of importance that underpins the information presented, making a bold point of the facts and figures the careers team wanted to shout about the most.
