For three consecutive years we worked alongside Leeds Beckett University and Leeds Beckett Students' Union in the run up to Leeds Beckett Freshers festivals. Each year brought a unique style, brief and list of challenges as well as a packed list of events and headline acts!
2016 and 2017 saw similar high-intensity, glitchy promo videos set to thumping soundtracks, the most recent of which is featured in the third slide here. Using layered graphic elements, parallax effects and cutouts of headliner Marcel from Love Island, the video garnered high praise from the LBSU marketing team and was a huge success on social media.
In 2018 the branding took a step back from nightclub-flavoured teaser videos, instead opting for a pop-art-inspired 'duotone' aesthetic which fit a wider variety of events such as the Campus Tea Party. Collaborating with the marketing team within LBSU, we created a series of five short and snappy promo videos to reveal details of the key events, lineup and festivities. The five core videos were then adapted further for specialist scenarios, namely re-formatting the originally square frame to a 16:9 aspect ratio and a much smaller web-banner version for the SU's Facebook page, a couple of which are featured above.
