LTHT Vaccines Research

LTHT Vaccines Research

In Autumn 2020, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust led the research process of developing a vaccine against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We were asked by the Trust to work with their existing branding and illustrated character style to develop a succinct animation around recruitment for phase 3 trials, initially across Leeds, Harrogate and York.

Adapting and expanding on existing material designed by the Trust, we worked closely with representatives from LTHT to develop a script and narrative which conveyed the key facts regarding the vaccine research process, who's involved and why it's important to include people from all walks of life in phase 3 trials.

The team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust wanted a voiceover that sounded friendly, trustworthy and local to the Leeds and Bradford area. Thus we sourced and worked closely with local narrator Kenton, who described himself as "Bradford born and bred" and delivered a brilliant recording in his natural accent.

As the animation started coming together we were asked to re-record the voiceover so it covered the whole Yorkshire region, then later again to include research across the entirety of the UK. The end result was provided in all regional and national variations, alongside captioned verisons of each with accompanying SRT files.

The animation was published in early November 2020 to critical acclaim within the NHS and garnered over 20,000 views on YouTube within five days. We are proud to have been a part of such an important project and can only hope our animation helps further recruitment for the closing phase of this crucial process.
