The Centre for Group Councelling and Trauma in Canada is a university-led institution focused on the advancement of group-based counselling research and delivery through the assessment and treatment of clients, community engagement, and the training of clinicians in group counselling interventions. CGCT is hosted by the prestigious University of British Columbia at their Vancouver campus.
Their competition brief for a new logo design via DesignBro was met with immediate enthusiasm by our studio, eager to support such an important cause on an international stage.
Taking into consideration the posted requirements for a clean, monochrome design, we created this bold motif and accompanying typography to give the CGCT a refined and contemporary identity. The logotype itself was constructed from shapes and lines illustrated entirely from scratch, adhering to strict guidelines and grids. This ensures a completely bespoke design, which could be used both with the expanded typography or stand alone as a simplified motif.
Our entry was met with high praise, leading the competition from the very start and subsequently winning overall. The design is now to be applied across the new CGCT website and all printed, digital and branded material.
